Israeli Forces Thwart Ballistic Missile from Yemen Prior to Airspace Breach

Jerusalem, Dec 1 (NationPress) The military of Israel reported on Sunday that they successfully intercepted a ballistic missile that was launched from Yemen before it could enter the airspace of Israel.

The missile activation prompted sirens in various cities and communities across central Israel, as stated by the military in an announcement, reported by Xinhua news agency.

Debris from the missile or the interceptor landed in a kindergarten playground in Tzur Hadassah, a locality close to Jerusalem, resulting in some damage, according to the local council.

Fragments were also reported to have fallen in Halhul, near the city of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, based on reports from Palestinian media.

No injuries have been reported in these incidents.

Previously, Houthi media outlets indicated that the group had launched a ballistic rocket towards Israel early on Sunday morning. Residents near the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah mentioned on social media that they observed a large rocket heading northward.

Since November 2023, the Houthi group has been executing rocket and drone strikes on Israel and has disrupted shipping linked to Israel in the Red Sea, purportedly to express solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza amidst the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
