New Delhi, March 12 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar engaged in a phone conversation with Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono on Thursday, focusing on the ongoing conflict in West Asia and strengthening bilateral relations.

In a message shared on X, EAM Jaishankar remarked, “Had a fruitful discussion with FM Sugiono of Indonesia. Exchanged insights regarding the West Asia conflict and reiterated our commitment to convene the Joint Commission meeting soon.”

The dialogue occurred in the backdrop of escalating tensions in West Asia, which erupted following coordinated US-Israel strikes on Iran on February 28. In retaliation, Iran executed drone and missile assaults targeting US interests, regional capitals, and allied forces in the area.

Recently, EAM Jaishankar has also reached out to counterparts from various nations, including Russia, Iran, France, and Oman, as India remains actively engaged with regional governments and critical partners amidst the heightened security climate in West Asia.

On Wednesday, EAM Jaishankar held a discussion with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, addressing the West Asia conflict and avenues for expanding bilateral relations.

“A constructive dialogue with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov of Russia. We exchanged views on the West Asia conflict and our diplomatic initiatives. Additionally, we reviewed our bilateral cooperation framework,” Jaishankar shared on X.

EAM Jaishankar also deliberated on the West Asia conflict and its ramifications with Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

After their conversation, Jaishankar mentioned on X, “It was a productive discussion with EU HRVP Kaja Kallas regarding the West Asia conflict and its wider implications.”

On the same day, EAM Jaishankar conferred with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, focusing on the current security dynamics in West Asia.

“I appreciated the insightful exchange with FM Jean-Noel Barrot of France regarding the West Asia conflict. I look forward to further discussions in person,” EAM Jaishankar stated on X following their call.

India has consistently pushed for de-escalation, restraint, dialogue, and diplomacy to navigate the situation, while ensuring the safety of Indian citizens in the region and maintaining uninterrupted energy supplies.

On Tuesday, Jaishankar had an in-depth conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, focusing on the latest updates in the West Asia conflict.

In a message on X, Jaishankar noted, “I had a comprehensive discussion this evening with Foreign Minister @araghchi of Iran regarding the latest developments in the ongoing conflict. We agreed to keep the dialogue open.”

EAM Jaishankar also connected with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun on Tuesday, discussing bilateral relations and the ongoing situation in West Asia.

After their talks, Jaishankar shared on X, “I had a productive conversation with FM Cho Hyun of RoK. We discussed enhancing our bilateral agenda, as well as the situation in West Asia, including its energy ramifications.”

Furthermore, EAM Jaishankar held discussions with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

“I exchanged perspectives with FM Johann Wadephul of Germany regarding the ongoing conflict in West Asia,” EAM Jaishankar posted on X after their meeting.
