Previously, on March 30, Takaichi mentioned her willingness to consider discussions with Iranian officials at a 'suitable' moment if it aligns with Japan's national interests, as regional tensions remain elevated, local media pointed out.

Maintaining stability in West Asia is critically significant for Japan, which depends on this region for over 90 percent of its crude oil imports, as reported by Xinhua.
Earlier, on March 19, Prime Minister Takaichi conveyed to President Donald Trump her belief that he alone could facilitate peace in a world grappling with a significant security crisis, during their meeting at the White House, amidst escalating tensions in West Asia and mounting concerns regarding the global economy.
Takaichi made this statement during an Oval Office appearance, aligning Japan with the US campaign for regional stability while also highlighting the threats to energy resources and maritime navigation.
Trump acknowledged Takaichi for her leadership and electoral triumph, stating that she had "achieved a remarkable election victory in a record-setting manner." He remarked, "We have a very popular, powerful woman and she's an outstanding leader," emphasizing the strong relationship between the two nations.
Takaichi expressed to US President Trump during their White House meeting her conviction that "it is solely you, Donald, who can secure peace worldwide," providing robust public support as they deliberated on matters concerning Iran, energy security, and instability in West Asia.
