Washington, March 20 (NationPress) Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi expressed her strong support for US President Donald Trump during a meeting at the White House, stating, "It is solely you, Donald, who has the potential to bring about global peace." This declaration came as the two leaders discussed pressing issues related to Iran, energy security, and the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East.

Takaichi's comments, made during an appearance in the Oval Office, positioned Japan firmly alongside the United States in the quest for regional stability, while also highlighting the imminent risks to energy supplies and navigation.

"Currently, we are facing a very precarious security environment in the Middle East and across the globe, which poses a serious threat to the global economy due to recent developments," she noted.

"In light of these challenges, I firmly believe that you, Donald, are the key to achieving worldwide peace," she reiterated.

Takaichi emphasized her willingness to collaborate with various international partners to achieve shared objectives and traveled to the White House to deliver this message personally.

Taking a firm stance on Iran, she declared, "The development of nuclear weapons by Iran must never be permitted." She also condemned Iran’s aggressive actions, including attacks on neighboring regions and the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Following her briefing to the Japanese press, Takaichi mentioned that she had clearly articulated Japan’s stance on the urgent need for a resolution to the crisis, confirming that both Japan and the United States would maintain close communication to foster peace and stability in the Middle East, ensuring safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and a reliable energy supply.

The discussions also covered practical energy measures. "Considering Japan’s crude oil procurement in Asia, we confirmed that Japan and the United States will collaborate to enhance US energy production," she stated. She proposed a joint initiative for stockpiling crude oil sourced from the US, highlighting that diversified supply sources are essential for stable energy access for Japan and the broader Asian region.

In response, Trump remarked that the world would be much safer once the current operations concluded. "Upon completion, we will see a safer world," he said, adding, "The prime minister agrees with me; she finds Iran's actions to be disastrous."

Takaichi also linked the instability in the Middle East to broader concerns regarding economic security. She indicated that the two governments discussed critical minerals, energy, and security cooperation, finalizing three projects, including one focused on rare-earth mud and marine mineral resources.

Her statements highlighted Japan’s challenging position: supporting Washington's efforts for regional stability while safeguarding its own legal, diplomatic, and energy interests. When asked about the possibility of sending naval vessels, she emphasized that the safety of the Strait of Hormuz is of utmost importance, noting that "there are certain actions we can and cannot take within the scope of Japanese law."

Japan has historically relied on imported energy, making the instability surrounding the Strait of Hormuz a critical strategic issue for Tokyo. Disruptions in this area could have significant economic repercussions extending beyond the Gulf, impacting Asian markets.
