Maputo, June 25 (NationPress) The Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, engaged with the Indian community members in Maputo during an official visit to celebrate the 50th Independence Day of Mozambique.
In a conversation with X, the MoS expressed, "I am pleased to connect with the Indian community in Maputo. I emphasized the remarkable Indian growth story and the positive, inclusive changes made under the visionary guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi."
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted that Mozambique is home to a vibrant Indian community comprising approximately 25,000 members.
Singh is also scheduled to meet with Mozambique's President Daniel Francisco Chapo to discuss the bilateral relations.
On the previous day, the MoS inaugurated the Jaipur Foot camp in Maputo, funded by the Indian government, alongside Mozambique's Health Minister Ussene Hilario Isse.
"We inaugurated the Jaipur Foot (artificial limb fitment) camp in Maputo, with Health Minister Ussene Hilario Isse. This initiative will provide artificial limbs to about 1,200 beneficiaries, significantly enhancing their lives and the lives of their families," Singh stated.
The MoS also visited the historic Salamanga Hindu Temple, highlighting the devotion and resilience of the Hindu community in Mozambique, describing it as an "abode of peace."
He further emphasized the "enduring links of unity, peace, and heritage" between India and Mozambique.
During his stay, Singh held discussions with Mozambique's Foreign Minister Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas to explore ways to strengthen bilateral relations.
As Mozambique celebrates its 50th Independence Day, India's ties with this East African nation have also reached a golden jubilee.
