Islamabad, Sep 21 (NationPress) A petition has been submitted to the Islamabad High Court concerning the purportedly provocative posts issued from former Prime Minister Imran Khan's account on X during his incarceration, according to local media reports on Sunday.
The application was filed by an individual named Ghulam Murtaza Khan through Barrister Zafarullah Khan Advocate. The petition asserts that disseminating “provocative and malicious” content from a convicted individual's social media is unlawful and violates prison regulations, as reported by Pakistan's Dawn daily.
The petitioner urged the court to instruct the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into who has been posting on the account of Imran Khan, founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), while he is detained. Additionally, he requested that the court block and eliminate such content from social media.
The petition also called for the court to direct the jail's superintendent to ensure that the prisoner is prohibited from utilizing or managing social media in breach of prison regulations, denouncing such actions as “unconstitutional and illegal.” Moreover, the petitioner asked the court to prevent PTI from redistributing or promoting any content originating from Imran Khan's account during his imprisonment.
