On Monday, PM Modi met King Abdullah II at the Al Husseiniya Palace, proposing a target of enhancing bilateral trade to USD 5 billion.
He also called for collaboration between Jordan's digital payment system and India's United Payments Interface (UPI).
As part of this visit, both nations finalized several Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) in various fields, including culture, renewable energy, water management, digital public infrastructure, and a twinning arrangement between Petra and Ellora.
In his remarks on X, PM Modi stated, "These outcomes signify a meaningful expansion of the India-Jordan partnership. Our cooperation in new and renewable energy reflects a shared commitment to clean growth, energy security, and climate responsibility."
He further indicated that collaboration in water resource management will allow both countries to exchange best practices in conservation, efficiency, and technology for lasting water security.
Additionally, he mentioned that the Twinning Agreement between Petra and Ellora would pave the way for new opportunities in heritage conservation, tourism, and academic exchanges.
"The renewal of the Cultural Exchange Programme (2025-2029) will further strengthen people-to-people connections. Sharing our digital innovations will assist Jordan's digital transformation and promote inclusive governance," PM Modi added.

Moreover, during their discussions, both leaders exchanged views on regional developments and global issues, reaffirming the need to restore peace and stability in the region.

As a notable gesture, Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan welcomed PM Modi upon his arrival, marking his first comprehensive bilateral visit to Jordan—having previously transited through the country in February 2018 on his way to the State of Palestine.
