Port Louis, March 11 (NationPress) During his two-day trip to Mauritius, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented significant gifts to President Dharam Gokhool and his wife. Among the offerings were Gangajal (sourced from the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj) beautifully packed in a brass and copper pot, along with Bihar's superfood Makhana for the President, and a Banarasi saree for his wife.

These gifts were exchanged during a warm interaction between PM Modi and the Mauritius President.

The Banarasi saree, a prized possession from Varanasi, represents luxury and cultural heritage, renowned for its exquisite silk, intricate brocade patterns, and lavish zari work. This stunning saree, in a royal blue hue, features silver zari motifs, a broad zari border, and an intricately designed pallu, making it perfect for weddings, festivals, and grand occasions. The saree was encased in a Sadeli box, crafted in Gujarat, showcasing detailed inlay work, ideal for storing valuable sarees, jewelry, or cherished keepsakes.

Earlier that day, PM Modi met with his Mauritius counterpart, Navinchandra Ramgoolam. Both leaders planted a sapling at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden, symbolizing their mutual aspirations for a greener and brighter future for both countries.

PM Modi took to X to express his appreciation for the gesture from the Mauritius PM.

“I am truly honored by the heartfelt gesture from my friend, Prime Minister Dr Navin Ramgoolam, participating in ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’— a tribute to nature, motherhood, and sustainability,” PM Modi noted on X.

Upon his return to the country after nearly a decade—his last visit being in 2015—PM Modi received a warm welcome at the airport.
