New Delhi, Oct 17 (NationPress) The Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today in New Delhi, concluding his two-day visit to India.

"It was a pleasure to host Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty. I expressed my heartfelt gratitude to my friend, President Sisi, for his pivotal role in the Gaza Peace Agreement. The India-Egypt Strategic Partnership is flourishing, benefitting our peoples, our shared region, and humanity at large," PM Modi shared on X following their discussions.

In their discussions, the Prime Minister congratulated President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Egypt's significant involvement in the Gaza Peace Agreement and expressed optimism for enduring peace in the area.

Minister Abdelatty updated PM Modi on the inaugural India-Egypt Strategic Dialogue occurring during his visit. The Prime Minister expressed his contentment with the advancements made in various sectors of bilateral cooperation, including trade, technology, energy, defense, and cultural exchanges, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

This marks Abdelatty's first visit to India in his capacity as Foreign Minister, where he participated in the First India-Egypt Strategic Dialogue alongside External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar on Thursday evening. During the dialogue, EAM Jaishankar emphasized the dedication of both nations towards the advancement of the Global South.

"India and Egypt are united in our commitment to fostering the progress of the Global South and ensuring the independence and freedom of nations in global matters. This solidarity will undoubtedly guide our discussions today," EAM Jaishankar stated in his opening remarks.

He further noted that this inaugural dialogue represents a significant milestone in bilateral relations that have seen increased cooperation in numerous areas since the partnership was elevated to a Strategic Partnership in 2023.

"Our political connections and coordination remain robust, including on multilateral platforms. Our defense and security collaborations have expanded. Trade and investment prospects are encouraging, and we will discuss pathways to advance them. We can also explore opportunities in digital public infrastructure, fintech, pharmaceuticals, space, startups, and green technologies. Given our shared historical backgrounds, cultural and people-to-people interactions are also a vital aspect of our relationship," EAM Jaishankar remarked.

He added that, in line with the longstanding friendship, it was natural for Egypt to assist India in the evacuation of Indian citizens from the region in June 2025.

"I would like to express our profound gratitude for the solidarity demonstrated by your Government and yourself in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Prime Minister Modi and President Sisi communicated during that period. We appreciated the warm reception extended to the multi-party parliamentary delegation that visited Egypt afterward," he concluded.
