Doha, Feb 3 (NationPress) The Prime Minister of Qatar and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, held a meeting with the Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss bilateral cooperation and recent events in the Gaza Strip and Syria.
A statement from Qatar's Foreign Ministry indicated that the officials assessed methods to enhance their bilateral relations and reviewed the latest situations in Gaza, the Palestinian territories, and Syria, alongside various mutual issues of concern.
During their meeting on Sunday, Al Thani underscored the necessity for both sides involved in the conflict to persist in upholding the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and expressed gratitude for the robust Qatari-Turkish partnership in fostering peace and stability within the region, according to a report from Xinhua.
In a joint media briefing after the meeting, Al Thani highlighted the significance of all involved parties fully adhering to the implementation of the agreement's terms and initiating discussions on the second phase, as outlined in the agreement.
He also called upon international community partners to exert pressure to guarantee the success of these negotiations, emphasizing that no entity should be permitted to hinder them to prevent the closure of this vital opportunity.
Al Thani reiterated that the second phase of negotiations should commence immediately, stating, "We have already begun discussions with both parties to facilitate this."
He welcomed efforts aimed at restructuring Syria and fostering consensus and unity among all Syrian factions, paving the way for the establishment of civil peace, security, stability, and a law-abiding state based on institutions, development, and prosperity.
