Russia Claims Ukraine Targeted Its Airbase Using US Missiles

Moscow, Dec 12 (NationPress) Ukrainian forces executed a missile attack employing Western high-precision weaponry on the Taganrog military airfield situated in Russia's Rostov region, the Russian Defence Ministry reported on Wednesday.

According to the ministry, six ATACMS ballistic missiles, manufactured in the United States, were deployed, with two being intercepted and the others neutralized by Russian electronic warfare systems, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

The ministry further indicated that debris from the missiles resulted in injuries among personnel.

It stated, “This assault with Western long-range arms will provoke a response, and appropriate actions will be initiated.”

In a significant policy change regarding the Ukraine situation, the United States granted Ukraine permission in November to utilize American long-range missiles for strikes on targets within Russia's territory. This decision has been viewed by Russia as an escalation of the ongoing conflict.
