Shooting Incident at Northern California School Leaves Two Students Injured and Gunman Deceased

Los Angeles, Dec 5 (NationPress) Two students were injured and the suspected gunman is deceased following a shooting incident at a school located in Northern California, as reported by authorities.

Deputies were "present at the site of an ongoing situation involving a shooting at Feather River School of Seventh-Day Adventists in Palermo," stated the Butte County Sheriff's Office in a release on Wednesday.

Students were escorted to a nearby church, and parents were urged to meet there to reunite with their children, as per the Sheriff's Office.

The office received numerous 911 calls around 1 p.m. local time regarding an adult male discharging a firearm at students, reported KRCR-TV, a local news outlet, citing the Sheriff's Office and Xinhua news agency.

Various agencies swiftly responded to the scene and found the shooter, who succumbed to what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the report.

Two students suffered gunshot injuries, with one being airlifted to a local hospital for treatment.

The school, which is administered by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, serves grades K-8 and has over 30 students enrolled, as indicated on its website.

Palermo, with a population exceeding 5,000, is situated about 104 km north of Sacramento, the capital of the United States state of California.
