South Korea's Cabinet Proposes Collective Resignation Amid Martial Law Crisis

Seoul, Dec 4 (NationPress) In light of escalating political unrest, the South Korean Cabinet has proposed a collective resignation following President Yoon Suk Yeol's unexpected martial law declaration, as confirmed by officials on Wednesday.
During a gathering led by Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, nearly all Cabinet members, including Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok and Education Minister Lee Ju-ho, conveyed their intention to resign in order to take accountability for the President's declaration and the subsequent revocation of martial law earlier in the day, as reported by Yonhap news agency.
Justice Minister Park Sung-jae stated to reporters after the meeting, "I have no intention of continuing in my post."
Defence Minister Kim Yong-hyun, who allegedly suggested the martial law declaration to Yoon, subsequently announced his resignation through a statement.
Prime Minister Han urged the Cabinet to persist in their duties.
"I ask the Cabinet to fulfil your responsibilities alongside the public officials of all ministries to guarantee the safety and daily lives of the people remain unaffected," he asserted.
"Until the very end, I will serve the citizens by uniting the wisdom of our Cabinet members."
Earlier that day, senior aides at the presidential office, including the chief of staff to President Yoon, also tendered their resignations.
