The blast occurred when an explosive-laden vehicle crashed into the back of the police station, leading to a powerful explosion followed by gunfire. Initial reports indicated that the police station's sentry post was completely obliterated, and a significant portion of the structure was reduced to rubble, as reported by Dawn.

Several nearby homes were destroyed, trapping multiple individuals under debris due to the explosion's impact on residential areas. Rescue 1122 reported that the injured were transported to local hospitals, with some in critical condition.

According to District Emergency Officer Bakhtullah Wazir, five fatalities were confirmed, including a husband, wife, daughter, and son from the same family. He added that search and rescue efforts are ongoing and will persist until the site is fully cleared.

Rescue teams from Rescue 1122 arrived at the scene, but ongoing rainfall hindered their relief efforts. Once the gunfire ceased, personnel began removing debris and rescuing those trapped.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and initiated a clearance operation. This incident highlights a worrying trend of increased security threats in Bannu district, where civilians and security personnel have faced escalating attacks.
