Syrian Interim Government Engages with Former Officials for Power Transfer

Damascus, Dec 11 (NationPress) Syrian ministers from the newly established transitional government convened with officials from the ousted Bashar al-Assad regime to coordinate the transfer of state institutions and to ensure the ongoing provision of public services, according to reports from Syrian national TV.

Mohammad al-Bashir, the Prime Minister in charge of the transitional government, stated that his cabinet, which includes ministers from the transitional body, has been assigned by the general leadership to oversee the affairs of Syria until March 2025. During this period, the transitional government plans to take control of various ministries, reinstate employees to their roles, and restore vital services throughout the nation, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

"Our duty is to ensure security, maintain the integrity of institutions, and avert the disintegration of the state," al-Bashir told the press. "We aim to guarantee that the people of Syria receive the services they are entitled to during this transitional phase until a new government is established that aligns with the aspirations of the Syrian populace."

Al-Bashir stressed the importance of cooperation from outgoing ministers, particularly regarding the handover of documents and responsibilities.

"We anticipate that the ministers from the deposed regime will support their successors," he remarked, underscoring that a seamless transition is vital for providing uninterrupted public services to the Syrian citizens.
