Ten Lives Lost in Bus Accident in Punjab, Pakistan

Islamabad, Dec 30 (NationPress) A devastating accident occurred on Monday when a passenger bus overturned in the Attock district of Punjab, Pakistan, leading to the deaths of at least 10 individuals and injuring more than seven others, as reported by police authorities.
The incident transpired on the motorway near the Fateh Jang area when the bus driver lost control due to a tyre burst, resulting in the tragic crash, according to officials from the National Highways and Motorway Police.
Among the casualties are women and children, officials stated, mentioning that the bus was en route to the federal capital Islamabad from the eastern district of Bahawalpur when the accident occurred.
Upon receiving alerts, police and rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene, transporting the injured to a nearby hospital, where two passengers were reported to be in critical condition.
Earlier that same morning, a collision involving a passenger van and trailer in the Naushahro Feroze district of southern Sindh province resulted in six fatalities on the spot, along with at least 15 others sustaining injuries.
Previously, on June 25, 2023, another tragic incident claimed the lives of at least 10 individuals and injured over 40 when two passenger buses collided in the Nawab Shah district of Sindh. Reports indicate that this occurred in the Daur area when the buses, traveling in opposite directions on a single-lane road, attempted to overtake two separate vehicles simultaneously, leading to the crash.
Passengers trapped inside the bus were extricated, and the injured were expedited to local hospitals.
One of the buses was reportedly traveling from Peshawar to Karachi, while the other was heading towards Punjab province from Karachi.
In another incident on June 9, 2022, at least three individuals were killed and 10 others injured when a truck collided with a passenger bus in the Narowal district of Punjab, as reported by state media.
This accident occurred in Kartarpur town due to the truck's overspeeding, and the victims were subsequently taken to a local hospital, as informed by rescue workers.
Road accidents are a prevalent issue in Pakistan, primarily attributed to poorly maintained vehicles, deteriorating roads, and a lack of adherence to road safety regulations.
