Washington, Jan 21 (NationPress) US President Donald Trump has expressed his support for legal immigration, emphasizing that the country will require an increase in it due to anticipated growth in manufacturing spurred by his tariff policies.

"I am completely okay with legal immigration. We need individuals, and I wholeheartedly support it. It is essential for us," he stated during his inaugural news conference as president on Monday.

He conducted the news conference while signing executive orders in the Oval Office, which he had just entered.

While implementing measures to combat illegal immigration and tighten visa protocols to prevent terrorist activities, he reaffirmed his commitment to legal immigration.

"We need legal immigration because we expect numerous companies to relocate here to circumvent tariffs," he mentioned. "If you wish to avoid tariffs, simply set up your operations in the US. Thus, we will see an influx of workers, and legal immigration is crucial for this," he added.

Trump has proclaimed a national emergency at the US southern border, enabling the deployment of the National Guard and other forces, speeding up the construction of the border wall, and mandating that asylum-seekers remain in Mexico.

Additionally, his directives will impact certain categories of children born in the US, who will no longer receive automatic citizenship.

One of his orders designates drug cartels as terrorist organizations.

Trump indicated that this classification could facilitate military action against drug cartels operating within Mexico.

He has also cautioned BRICS nations of imposing 100 percent tariffs if they pursue the creation of an alternative currency to the dollar.

India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has already dismissed the concept of a BRICS currency. India ranks as the second-largest economy within the group, which originally includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, along with five newer members.

When questioned about his claims of resolving the Ukraine War on his first day, Trump humorously noted that only a half-day had elapsed.

He asserted that Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky was open to negotiations, while Russia's President Vladimir Putin was not.

Trump stated, "I need to speak with President Putin."

"He's causing great damage to Russia by failing to reach an agreement. I believe Russia is heading for significant difficulties," he remarked.

Trump also mentioned that he had received an invitation to visit China, with potential plans for the trip this year.

He is contemplating a comprehensive 10 percent tariff on all imports, citing trade deficits with nearly all countries except two, indicating that the US is being exploited.

The proposed 25 percent tariffs on Canada and Mexico for permitting illegal immigration and drug trafficking into the US are set to take effect on February 1.
