Washington, Jan 23 (NationPress) President Donald Trump indicated that discussions regarding a lasting US presence in Greenland are still in progress, and he described his efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict as a vital, life-saving initiative. This took place during a lengthy dialogue with journalists on board Air Force One as he was returning to the US from Davos.

“It’s infinite. There’s no time limit. It’s endless,” Trump stated when queried about the timeline for the Greenland proposal, emphasizing that “we can undertake any actions we desire, including military operations. And it is under negotiation.”

He mentioned that the plan would entail collaboration with NATO and clarified that the United States wouldn’t bear costs beyond what he referred to as constructing a “Golden Dome.” “We will all collaborate,” he asserted. “NATO will partner with us.”

When asked if Denmark had approved the arrangement, Trump responded, “I believe everyone is in favor,” stating that he would provide more details “in about two weeks.” He also indicated that he had communicated with the NATO secretary general about “everything,” including military presence.

Regarding Ukraine, Trump noted that envoys were headed to Moscow and stressed that direct discussions are crucial. “Meeting is beneficial. If you don’t engage, nothing will progress,” he remarked, contrasting the current strategy with that of the previous administration. He suggested that both Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky are seeking an agreement. “I believe President Putin wants to negotiate. I think President Zelensky is also eager to reach a deal,” he stated.

When questioned about concessions, Trump replied, “Everyone is making compromises to finalize the agreement,” and emphasized the need for Europe to be closely involved. “I’m doing this more for Europe than for myself,” he declared, noting that his primary goal is “to save lives.”

Trump elaborated on the situation in Ukraine, mentioning that civilians are facing extreme winter conditions. “It’s remarkable what they do to survive,” he reflected after recounting a conversation with Zelensky.

On the topic of Venezuela, Trump commended what he termed “very strong leadership” and announced that oil shipments to the United States are ongoing. “Over 50 million barrels of oil have already arrived or are en route to the United States,” he stated, predicting advantages for both nations and reduced prices domestically.

Concerning Iran, Trump said that US forces are stationed in the area and warned of repercussions if Tehran resumes executions. He claimed Iranian officials canceled planned hangings following US warnings and mentioned that tariffs of 25% will soon be imposed on businesses operating with Iran.

Trump also talked about the establishment of a new Board of Peace, revealing that invitations were sent out days ago, and nearly 30 countries are already participating. Some nations, he noted, require legislative approval before joining. When asked if he would continue as chairman beyond his second term, Trump responded, “I have the right to do so if I choose,” although he mentioned he has not made a decision yet.

On domestic issues, Trump stated that markets have positively reacted to his policies and defended a proposed cap of 10% on credit card interest for one year, labeling current rates as “28%.” He indicated that this measure would need congressional approval. He also noted he is contemplating a Federal Reserve appointment from Wall Street and criticized the cost associated with renovating a Fed building.

Trump confirmed upcoming campaign travel in preparation for the midterms, recognized historical challenges for sitting presidents, and highlighted what he called strong economic indicators, including declining fuel prices and investment levels. He expressed plans to visit China in April and host the Chinese president later in the year.
