Kabul, Oct 24 (NationPress) The Afghan police successfully eliminated two armed robbers and confiscated four AK-47 rifles during a confrontation in the northern Balkh province, as stated by the provincial police office on Friday.
This incident unfolded late Thursday night in the Chahi district, where the robbers attacked a passenger vehicle, stealing valuables from its occupants. The quick reporting of the crime by the victims led to a swift police response, according to the statement reported by Xinhua News Agency.
During the arrest attempt, the robbers resisted, resulting in a brief firefight that concluded with the deaths of both suspects.
A search of their belongings revealed four Kalashnikov assault rifles, two owned by the robbers and two that had been previously stolen from security forces.
In a related event, another armed robber was killed by police in a clash in the neighboring Sari Pul province on Wednesday.
There were no additional casualties reported, and investigations are currently ongoing.
