Abu Dhabi, Feb 28 (NationPress) The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has declared that the nation’s air defence systems successfully intercepted and eliminated a fresh wave of Iranian missiles aimed at the country on Saturday.

The operation to intercept these Iranian missiles was conducted with remarkable efficiency and without sustaining any damage, as stated by the UAE's Defence Ministry.

"The Ministry confirmed its unwavering readiness to tackle any threats, emphasizing that all necessary actions are underway to robustly confront any attempts to compromise the country's security and stability. The safety of our citizens, residents, and visitors remains an unparalleled priority that will not be jeopardized," said a statement released by the ministry.

The ministry further reported that the UAE Air Defence system intercepted the missiles, with debris landing in multiple locations across Abu Dhabi, including Saadiyat Island, Khalifa City, Baniyas Area, Mohammed Bin Zayed Area, and Al Falah Area.

"The Ministry highlighted that this targeting represents a gross violation of national sovereignty and international law, affirming the UAE’s full right to take any necessary measures to safeguard its territory and populace, ensuring its sovereignty, security, and stability. The Ministry also called on the public to refer to official channels for information and to refrain from disseminating rumors or unverified reports," the statement added.

Earlier in the day, the UAE's Ministry of Defence reported that the country faced a "brazen attack" involving Iranian ballistic missiles, which were effectively managed by the UAE air defences, maintaining control over the security situation in the nation.

It noted that debris falling in a residential area of Abu Dhabi caused some material damage and resulted in the tragic death of an individual of Asian descent.

"The Ministry of Defence confirmed that today, the United Arab Emirates endured a brazen attack with Iranian ballistic missiles, which the UAE air defences managed with utmost efficiency, successfully intercepting several of these missiles. The relevant authorities in the country also addressed the debris fallout in a residential area of Abu Dhabi, which led to some material damages and the death of an individual of Asian nationality," stated the UAE's Defence Ministry.

"The competent authorities assure that the security situation within the country is under vigilant control, with all concerned parties monitoring developments around the clock. The Ministry condemned this attack in the strongest terms, asserting the country's absolute rejection of targeting civilian facilities, installations, and national institutions, emphasizing that such actions are a perilous escalation and a cowardly act that endangers civilian safety and disrupts stability," it added.

Abu Dhabi reiterated that this targeting constitutes a flagrant violation of national sovereignty and international regulations, and the nation reserves its complete right to respond to this escalation and undertake all necessary measures to protect its lands, people, and residents, ensuring the preservation of its sovereignty, security, and stability, and safeguarding its national interests and capabilities.

"The Ministry reaffirmed that it is in a state of heightened alert and preparedness to respond to any threats, and that it is executing all necessary measures to firmly counter any actions aimed at disrupting the country’s security and stability, reiterating that the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors is an utmost priority that cannot be compromised. The Ministry urges the honorable public to seek information from official sources and to avoid circulating unverified information," concluded the statement.
