Washington, Nov 12 (NationPress) US Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove has expressed her heartfelt condolences to the victims of the recent blast near Red Fort in Delhi, stating that "her heart goes out to all those affected".

In a statement to IANS on Tuesday (local time), Kamlager-Dove remarked, "My heart goes out to all those affected by the explosion at Delhi's Red Fort, and I extend my sincerest condolences to those who lost loved ones."

The Democratic Congresswoman from California further emphasized her commitment to staying updated on the situation and ongoing investigations.

"I will continue to closely monitor developments as law enforcement investigates and more details emerge," she informed IANS.

At least eight individuals have tragically lost their lives, and 20 have been injured due to the car explosion near the Red Fort on Monday evening (Indian time).

The US State Department has also stated that it is "closely monitoring the situation" and "stands ready to provide consular assistance".

In a detailed response to IANS, a State Department spokesperson commented, "We are aware of the explosion near Red Fort in Delhi. We are closely monitoring the situation and stand ready to provide consular assistance."

On a separate note, the State Department Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs tweeted, "Our hearts are with those affected by the terrible explosion in New Delhi. We continue to closely monitor the situation. Our sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured."

The explosion occurred in a Hyundai i20 car at 6:52 p.m. on Monday, close to the Red Fort Metro Station, resulting in mangled bodies and damaged vehicles scattered throughout the busy area.

This tragic incident follows the police's recent dismantling of a terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind in Faridabad, where they seized 2,900 kg of explosives and a substantial cache of arms and ammunition.

Authorities have also reported the arrest of two doctors from Jammu & Kashmir, Adil Ahmad Rather and Muzammil, who were associated with these terror outfits, which reportedly caused panic among the module members and led to the explosion.

Investigators suspect that the blast may have resulted from one of the suspects, Dr. Umar Mohhamad, panicking while transporting the explosives, according to sources.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Tuesday that "our investigative agencies will get to the bottom of this conspiracy."

"All those responsible will be brought to justice," he added.

On Tuesday, Home Minister Amit Shah convened a meeting with senior officials and directed them to "hunt down each and every culprit behind this incident."

"Chaired review meetings on the Delhi car blast with senior officials. Instructed them to hunt down each and every culprit behind this incident. Everyone involved in this act will face the full wrath of our agencies," Shah posted on X.
