Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jerusalem, March 3 (NationPress) - On Tuesday, the US Embassy in Jerusalem released an official advisory regarding the intensifying conflict in the Middle East. They have urged American citizens to arrange for their own safety, as the Embassy is currently unable to facilitate any departures from Israel.
The advisory highlighted that the security environment is both volatile and unpredictable, prompting the Embassy to remind US nationals to remain vigilant and proactively plan for their personal safety.
In their statement, the Embassy expressed, "At this time, the US Embassy is unable to evacuate or provide direct assistance to Americans wishing to leave Israel."
Furthermore, the statement underscored the rapidly changing security landscape.
It continued, "The US Embassy urges citizens to maintain caution and enhance their personal security awareness, including identifying the nearest shelter in case of a red alert, as incidents like mortar, rocket, and missile attacks, as well as unmanned aircraft system (UAS) intrusions, may occur unexpectedly."
The Embassy also mentioned that due to security developments, they might implement additional restrictions on the movements of US government personnel and their families. These restrictions could involve restricting or prohibiting travel to certain regions within Israel, including the Old City of Jerusalem and the West Bank.
Regarding travel options, the Embassy noted that the Israeli Ministry of Tourism has initiated shuttle services to the Taba Border Crossing starting on March 2. American citizens interested in utilizing this service can register through the Ministry's evacuation form. However, the Embassy clarified that it cannot endorse or discourage the use of the shuttle service.
"The US Embassy does not provide any recommendations regarding the Ministry of Tourism's shuttle service. If you opt to use this method of departure, please be aware that the US government cannot assure your safety," stated the US Embassy.
"This information is provided as a courtesy for those seeking to exit Israel," the statement concluded.
For those planning to continue their journey to Jordan, the Embassy advised that passengers may take the shuttle to Eilat and then travel independently by taxi to the Yitzhak Rabin Border Crossing.
Buses will be available at designated meeting spots throughout the country, including parking areas in Herzliya, Haifa, Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv.
Moreover, the Embassy encouraged citizens to review the guidance provided by the Israel Home Front Command prior to traveling to any border crossing, emphasizing the need to stay informed about official security instructions as the situation evolves.
