Sanaa, March 21 (NationPress) The US military initiated a new series of airstrikes on Yemen's Red Sea port city of Hodeidah and the northern province of Saada, both of which serve as strongholds for the Houthis, on Thursday evening.
Reports indicate that four US airstrikes targeted the Alkateeb coastal area on the northwestern outskirts of Hodeidah, home to several military complexes.
In addition, the US military launched strikes on the al-Asayed area in Saada for the second time since early morning, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
These airstrikes coincided with the Israeli military intercepting a missile from Yemen, which triggered air raid sirens in Jerusalem and parts of the occupied West Bank.
Earlier in the day, the Houthis claimed responsibility for attacking Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv with a long-range ballistic missile, stating that the action aimed to compel Israel to cease its military operations in Gaza, reopen border crossings, and facilitate humanitarian aid into the enclave.
The Houthi group also targeted the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the northern Red Sea early Thursday, marking the fifth such strike since Saturday.
The US military has resumed its air campaign against Houthi positions since Saturday, asserting that the campaign's purpose is to safeguard international shipping. This recent wave of airstrikes has reportedly resulted in numerous casualties, according to health authorities aligned with the Houthis.
The Houthi rebel group has seized control of a significant portion of Yemen, including the strategically vital Hodeidah port, following the onset of the civil war in 2014.
US President Donald Trump warned the Houthis on Saturday to halt their attacks or face severe repercussions, declaring, "Hell will rain down upon you like nothing you have ever seen before."
On Wednesday, Yemen's Houthi group announced that it had targeted the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the Red Sea for the fourth time in just 72 hours.
In a statement, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea claimed that the operation was executed using cruise missiles and drones, asserting it had successfully thwarted a "hostile US air attack."
