Aden, April 1 (NationPress) The Houthi group announced on Tuesday that US forces have executed 22 airstrikes against its positions in Yemen's northern Sanaa and Saada provinces within the past few hours.
As per a brief statement aired by the Houthi-controlled al-Masirah TV, five airstrikes at dawn targeted the Jarban area in the Sanhan district, southeast of Sanaa, while two other strikes hit the Bani Matar district located to the west of the capital.
The report further revealed that Saada, a stronghold for the group, faced 15 US airstrikes overnight, though specific locations were not disclosed.
The assaults followed a previous day where US airstrikes resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to a child in Bani Qa'is, within Yemen's northwestern Hajjah province, as reported by local residents and health authorities, according to Xinhua news agency.
The US military resumed airstrikes on Houthi-held territories in northern Yemen since March 15, aiming to prevent the group from targeting Israeli interests, US Navy assets, and international maritime routes in the area.
In response, the Houthi group reiterated its staunch support for Gaza, resuming attacks against Israeli targets and US naval vessels in the Red Sea, as Israel concluded a ceasefire with Hamas and recommenced military actions in Gaza.
On Monday, US President Donald Trump declared that operations against Yemen's Houthis would persist until they ceased their threats to US shipping.
"The choice for the Houthis is straightforward: Cease fire against US vessels, and we will halt our attacks on you," Trump stated on his Truth Social platform, claiming the Houthis had been "decimated" by ongoing strikes in the last two weeks.
Earlier on the same day, the Houthis announced that they had downed a US MQ-9 drone over the central province of Marib.
"Our air defenses successfully intercepted a hostile American MQ-9 drone in the airspace of Marib province, utilizing a locally produced missile," stated Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea on the group's al-Masirah TV.
