Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov held talks with Ambassador Sergio Gor, Special Representative of the President of the United States for South and Central Asia, in New Delhi on Tuesday, 5 August. The meeting centred on deepening the Uzbekistan–US strategic partnership and advancing cooperation across key bilateral and regional areas.

The two officials conducted what Saidov described as 'an in-depth exchange of views' on strengthening dialogue at the highest levels, with particular attention to priority areas of bilateral cooperation. 'Particularly noted the steady development of the Uzbekistan–US strategic partnership across all areas,' Saidov said in a post on social media platform X. He added that both sides agreed to 'continue the open and trust-based dialogue between Uzbekistan and the United States and to further expand practical cooperation.'

Beyond bilateral matters, the two sides discussed current regional and international issues, reflecting the broader significance of Central Asia in US foreign policy. Earlier on the same day, Foreign Minister Saidov met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at Parliament House in New Delhi. Their discussions focused on deepening inter-parliamentary dialogue, strengthening friendship groups between the two legislatures, and promoting the exchange of legislative experience between India and Uzbekistan.

Speaker Birla recalled his visit to Tashkent in April 2025 for the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), where he had met President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva, and Legislative Chamber Speaker Nuriddin Ismoilov. 'Those interactions further reinforced our shared commitment to deepening bilateral and Parliamentary engagement,' Birla wrote on X.

The Lok Sabha Speaker said the conversation covered a broad agenda including trade, investment, connectivity, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges — signalling that the India–Uzbekistan relationship extends well beyond diplomatic formality.
