The report indicated that the attack on the Mattani police station occurred from two directions. An official disclosed that a police officer was injured when a hand grenade was thrown into the Badhber police station from Mera Mashokhel Road.
Further details revealed that a police officer and six others were injured during a third assault on the Sra Khawra Police Checkpost. The attackers employed hand grenades and advanced firearms during these assaults.
Superintendent of the Saddar Division, Arshad Khan, noted that the assailants utilized modern technology, including Infrared (IR) cameras, commonly referred to as night vision, during the attacks. He also mentioned that the attackers escaped the scene following the incident. A search operation was initiated, but no arrests have been made; authorities plan to continue these operations.
On Tuesday, a separate incident resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including six police officers, after unidentified assailants targeted a police vehicle in the Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A senior police official stated that six officers—including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), an inspector, and four constables—were killed when a vehicle transporting two individuals for a court appearance was attacked. One of the individuals in the vehicle also lost their life during the assault, which concluded with the attackers setting the vehicle ablaze.
Earlier, on Monday, at least three members of the Federal Constabulary (FC) were killed when an ambulance transporting injured personnel was ambushed in the Badrakhail area of Karak, as reported by local law enforcement agencies.
The injured personnel were being transferred to a medical facility after a quadcopter attack targeted an FC post in the Dargah Shaheedan area. The District Police Officer (DPO) informed Geo News that five FC members were injured in the quadcopter attack, alongside two rescue personnel who sustained injuries in the ambulance ambush. Following the incident, police launched a search and rescue operation to locate the attackers.
Pakistan has seen an uptick in acts of terrorism, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the cessation of the ceasefire agreement between the government and the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) in 2022.
