New Delhi, Oct 14 (NationPress) Vice President C P Radhakrishnan engaged in discussions with Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa in New Delhi on Tuesday, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.
"It was a pleasure to meet His Excellency Mr. Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, the esteemed President of Mongolia, during his official visit to India today in New Delhi. We explored various dimensions of our bilateral ties," posted Vice President Radhakrishnan on X.
Earlier that day, the Mongolian President interacted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Hyderabad House. Their discussions revolved around strengthening defence and security, trade and investment, development cooperation, capacity building, and spiritual and cultural connections. To commemorate 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, they also unveiled a postage stamp.
"We are advancing the India–Mongolia Strategic Partnership. PM Narendra Modi held in-depth discussions with President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, covering the full spectrum of India-Mongolia relations. Both leaders agreed on the need to deepen cooperation in defence and security, trade, investment, and cultural exchanges. A postage stamp marking 70 years of diplomatic relations was released by the leaders," reported the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Prior to their discussions, both leaders planted a sapling at the Hyderabad House as a tribute to President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa's mother, as part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative.
This act symbolizes the unity of PM’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative and the Mongolian President’s One Billion Trees campaign, showcasing a shared dedication to environmental protection for future generations.
The Mongolian President, who is on a four-day State Visit to India, also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. On Monday, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar met Khurelsukh Ukhnaa and commended his heartfelt commitment to enhancing the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Khurelsukh Ukhnaa arrived in New Delhi on Monday for his inaugural visit to India since taking office, where he was welcomed by Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol.
"Diplomatic relations between India and Mongolia were established in 1955. Over the past seventy years, the two nations have forged a close, multifaceted partnership, grounded in shared cultural and spiritual values and democratic principles. This partnership encompasses various sectors including defence, security, parliamentary exchanges, development cooperation, energy, mining, information technology, education, healthcare, and cultural collaboration," stated the MEA.
"India and Mongolia are Strategic Partners, Spiritual Neighbours, and Third Neighbours. This State Visit presents an opportunity for the leadership of both countries to assess progress in their bilateral relations, establish a vision for reinforcing their strategic partnership, and discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest," it further noted.
