12-Day Development Program to Impact 1 Million Individuals: Assam Chief Minister

Guwahati, Dec 13 (NationPress) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared on Friday that at least 1 million individuals are expected to gain from the state government's '12 days of development program'.
During an event in Jorhat, Sarma remarked: “Numerous departments, including Revenue and Disaster Management, Finance, and Industries & Commerce, are ready to implement various initiatives that will directly assist millions across the state soon. More than 1 million families in Assam are anticipated to benefit from these initiatives as part of the ongoing '12 Days of Development' program.”
He elaborated on the government's microfinance relief initiative aimed at empowering women, highlighting that the administration has issued No-Due Certificates to facilitate their access to bank loans.
Additionally, he disclosed plans for further financial support, including a provision of Rs. 15,000 in 2026, and emphasized that efforts will be made to help these women obtain larger loans from financial institutions.
Sarma pointed out that as part of the '12 Days of Development' initiative, the Education Department has launched three significant schemes to deliver substantial benefits to students.
He mentioned that under the Banikanta Kakati Merit Award, girl students achieving a first division in the Higher Secondary Examination and boy students scoring 75 percent or higher will receive scooters.
Under the Anundoram Borooah Award, students who score 75 percent or more in HSLC exams will receive cash prizes through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), totaling approximately Rs 12,500 each.
He also mentioned that over 300,000 students in Class 9 will receive bicycles as part of the Chief Minister’s Special Scheme.
Sarma initiated the ceremonial distribution of the no dues certificate under the Assam Microfinance Incentive and Relief Scheme to borrowers amounting to Rs 223.30 crore, as reported by officials.
Furthermore, under the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Sarma disbursed Rs 35.337 crore to 686,487 families.
In addition, the Chief Minister presented seed capital under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme, providing Rs. 21.90 crore to 6490 members of SHGs.
