Guwahati, Dec 13 (NationPress) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared on Friday that a minimum of 10 lakh individuals are anticipated to benefit from the state's '12 Days of Development Program'.

During an event in Jorhat, Sarma remarked: “Various departments, such as Revenue and Disaster Management, Finance, Industries & Commerce, and Public Enterprises, are ready to implement a series of initiatives that will directly benefit millions of residents across the state in the near term. Over 10 lakh families in Assam are projected to receive positive impacts from these initiatives under the ongoing '12 Days of Development' program.”

He further discussed the government’s microfinance relief scheme designed to assist women, highlighting that the administration has provided No-Due Certificates to enable them to access loans from banks.

Additionally, he mentioned that the government intends to offer further financial assistance, with a provision of Rs. 15,000 in 2026, and assured that more efforts would be made to assist these women in obtaining larger loans from financial institutions.

Sarma emphasized that as part of the '12 Days of Development' initiative, the Education Department has rolled out three significant schemes to provide considerable advantages to students.

He noted that under the Banikanta Kakati Merit Award, girl students who achieve a first division in the Higher Secondary Examination and boy students who score 75 per cent or higher will be awarded scooters.

Furthermore, over three lakh students in Class 9 will be provided with bicycles under the Chief Minister’s Special Scheme.

Sarma initiated the ceremonial distribution of No Dues Certificates under the Assam Microfinance Incentive and Relief Scheme to borrowers totaling Rs 223.30 crore, according to officials.

In addition, through the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Sarma disbursed Rs 35.337 crore to 6,86,487 families.
