BJP in Assam Commemorates Vajpayee’s Birth Anniversary with Multiple Events

Guwahati, Dec 25 (NationPress) The BJP's Assam unit marked the birthday of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee with a variety of events held at the party's state headquarters on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was in attendance along with other senior party leaders.

This day is recognized as Good Governance Day. The Assam government also initiated a 12-day development program throughout December, launching various schemes across different districts.

CM Sarma remarked, “The current government is committed to ensuring comprehensive development for all segments of the state's population.”

He also mentioned that the 12-day development initiative aimed to assist targeted groups through government efforts.

During this campaign, CM Sarma and the Council of Ministers visited several districts to engage in development activities.

He reported that over the past 12 days, 20 lakh new ration cards were issued, and 48,673 students were awarded the D. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Scholarship.

According to CM Sarma, the Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Scholarship has benefitted a total of 109,000 students since its launch.

He highlighted that under the NEP 2020, a high school should be established every five kilometers, and to facilitate this, the state government is distributing bicycles to all students in Class 9.

The Chief Minister noted that a new era in education is emerging, with the state government investing Rs 2,000 crore annually for student welfare.

He expressed that if students embrace education as their career path, Assam will witness significant progress.

Moreover, CM Sarma stated that if the current development momentum continues, substantial investments are expected to flow into Assam.

“Measures are being implemented to guarantee that in the new Assam, there will be ample employment opportunities. Considering Industry 4.0, new fields such as AI, Robotics, and 3D technology have been incorporated into the state's educational framework,” he added.
