New Delhi, Feb 16 (NationPress) Sixteen armed miscreants were detained along with a substantial arsenal in Manipur during intelligence-driven operations undertaken by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps, as announced by the Army on Sunday.
The operations occurred from February 14 to 15, in collaboration with the Manipur Police, across the districts of Churachandpur, Thoubal, Tengnoupal, and Imphal East, utilizing drones and explosive detection dogs, according to a post from the Additional Directorate General of Public Information, Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army).
These operations culminated in the capture of 16 members from hill and valley-based factions in Manipur and the retrieval of nine firearms, which included automatics, assault rifles, pistols, Single Barrel Rifles, IEDs, grenades, ammunition, and various war-like supplies.
The apprehended suspects and the seized items were subsequently handed over to the Manipur Police, as reported by the Army.
On Saturday, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla commended the forces for their significant role in upholding sovereignty, fostering peace and harmony, and ensuring the safety of the state's citizens.
