Rajasthan's Lakhpati Didi scheme: 26 lakh trained, 20 lakh achieve milestone
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on 3 October said that more than 26 lakh women have received training under the Lakhpati Didi initiative in the state, with around 20 lakh of them having already achieved Lakhpati Didi status — a marker of annual household income exceeding ₹1 lakh. Sharma made the announcement while addressing the Nari Shakti Sammelan at University Commerce College, Jaipur, calling women's economic empowerment central to building a self-reliant Rajasthan.
Key Figures and Scheme Highlights
Sharma outlined a range of state-level welfare measures alongside the Lakhpati Didi numbers. Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, the state has raised financial assistance from ₹5,000 to ₹6,500. The Ma Voucher Yojana has issued 5.74 lakh sonography coupons, and eligible families are receiving LPG cylinders at ₹450.
On girls' education, the Chief Minister said 13.85 lakh bicycles have been distributed to girl students, while approximately 46,000 scooters have been provided under the Kalibai Uchcha Shiksha Scooty Yojana and Devnarayan Chhatra Scooty Yojana. He also noted that 1.22 crore women and girls in Rajasthan are being provided sanitary napkins free of cost every month.
Pension and Financial Support for Women
Sharma said nearly 19 lakh pensioners have received a cumulative ₹8,866 crore under the Mukhyamantri Ekal Nari Samman Pension Yojana. Under the Lado Protsahan Yojana, a savings bond worth ₹1.5 lakh is being provided to eligible low-income families upon the birth of a girl child. The honorarium of Anganwadi workers, helpers, crèche workers and Saathins has been increased by 10 per cent annually over the past three years, he added.
Central Schemes and Women's Empowerment Narrative
The Chief Minister credited several central government programmes — including Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana — for improving women's quality of life over the past 12 years. He also referenced the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam as a step toward expanding women's representation in leadership.
Sharma invoked historical figures including Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, Rani Lakshmibai, Savitribai Phule, Mirabai, Panna Dhay, Hadi Rani, Kalibai, and Amrita Devi, saying their legacy of courage and sacrifice continues to inspire Rajasthan's women today.
On-Ground Deliveries at the Event
At the Nari Shakti Sammelan, Sharma flagged off 60 ambulances, 9 articulating water towers, and 185 auto-tippers under the National Health Mission (NHM). He also handed over scooter keys to beneficiaries identified as Lakhpati Didis. The Chief Minister said these efforts are aimed at strengthening women's confidence and expanding opportunities in education, health, employment and entrepreneurship, with a broader goal of contributing to a Developed India and Developed Rajasthan by 2047.
