At least four people, including three members of a single family, were killed and nine others were injured in separate road accidents across Telangana on Tuesday, 21 July, according to officials. The deadliest of the incidents occurred in Sangareddy district, where a car ploughed into a road divider in the early hours of the morning.

Sangareddy Crash: Family Heading to Airport

Three members of a family from Nanded, Maharashtra — including a four-year-old girl — lost their lives when the car they were travelling in lost control and rammed into a road divider near Bachupalli in Kalher mandal. The vehicle overturned and fell off the road, killing two occupants on the spot.

The family was en route to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, to receive relatives arriving from abroad. A third victim succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital. Five injured survivors were admitted to a government hospital at Narayankhed, and the bodies were shifted to the mortuary there for post-mortem examination.

Kalher police registered a case and launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.

Khammam Collision: Bus and DCM Vehicle Clash

In a separate incident in Khammam district, one person was killed and four others were injured when a DCM vehicle and a private bus collided near the Kodad crossroad in Yedulapuram. The private bus, which was carrying 40 passengers and travelling from Hyderabad to Odisha, was involved in the collision. The injured were transferred to the government hospital at Khammam.

Earlier Hyderabad Crash Claims Student's Life

On Monday, a 22-year-old student identified as Varun, son of an Army personnel, died after the car he was driving crashed into the boundary wall of Om Shree Signet Apartments in Yapral, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Two of his friends, Ali and Arun, were injured in the accident, which occurred under the limits of Jawahar Nagar police station of Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate.

Police suspect overspeeding may have caused Varun to lose control of the vehicle. The incident occurred late on Monday and is being investigated separately.

A Pattern of Fatal Road Accidents in Telangana

These incidents are part of a broader and persistent road safety crisis in Telangana. National highways and state roads in the region have repeatedly seen fatal crashes linked to speeding, poor divider visibility in the early morning hours, and overloaded vehicles. Notably, all three incidents on Tuesday and Monday involved loss of vehicular control — pointing to a recurring pattern that road safety advocates argue demands stricter enforcement and better infrastructure.

Authorities are expected to file detailed accident reports, and the investigations remain ongoing.
