Five members of a single family from Chandrapur district were killed on Sunday, 28 June after their speeding car slammed into the rear of a stationary container truck on the Samruddhi Mahamarg in Amravati, Maharashtra. The collision, which occurred at around noon near the Dhamangaon Railway tehsil, was so severe that all five occupants died on the spot and the vehicle was completely wrecked.

How the Accident Unfolded

According to eyewitnesses, the family had begun their journey from Nagpur and was headed towards Mumbai when their car, reportedly travelling at high speed, failed to notice the stationary container truck ahead and struck it from behind. The impact left no chance of survival for those inside. Rescue teams and police personnel rushed to the scene after being alerted, and the trapped occupants were extricated from the mangled vehicle before being transported to Dhamangaon Rural Hospital, where doctors declared all five dead.

The five victims comprised two men, two women, and a young girl, all reportedly belonging to the same family from Chandrapur district. Their identities are yet to be officially confirmed by police, pending family notification. The accident cast a deep shadow of grief over the surrounding region.

The collision caused significant traffic disruption on the Samruddhi Mahamarg, one of Maharashtra's key expressways. Separately, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Sudhir Gadgil reportedly escaped with minor injuries on Saturday after his car collided with a two-wheeler on the Arjunwad service road in Sangli constituency while he was travelling from Mhaishal to Sangli. The airbags in his vehicle deployed in time. The two-wheeler rider was injured and admitted to hospital. The two incidents, occurring within 24 hours, have renewed calls for stricter road safety measures across Maharashtra.
