Five farm labourers from Karnataka's Bidar district were killed and seven others injured on Tuesday, 11 August when a tanker rammed into an autorickshaw in Sangareddy district, Telangana. The collision occurred at New Satwar in Zahirabad mandal, and the injured have been admitted to the Area Hospital in Zahirabad.

What Happened at New Satwar

The victims were seasonal farm labourers who had crossed the state border from Bidar to work in the Zahirabad region — a well-established migration corridor where workers from neighbouring Karnataka travel regularly for agricultural employment. The autorickshaw they were travelling in bore the full impact of the tanker collision, killing five on the spot and leaving seven in critical condition.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed shock over the incident and conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased. He directed officials to ensure the injured receive the best available medical care at the earliest.

Second Accident on NH-65 in Sangareddy

In a separate incident in the same district, two people were killed on National Highway 65 near Venkatapur crossroads in Kohir mandal. According to police, a car lost control, struck the road divider, and veered into oncoming traffic on the opposite carriageway. Four vehicles were damaged in the crash, triggering a traffic jam on the highway. Police personnel rushed to the site, cleared the wreckage, and restored traffic flow.

Mother and Toddler Killed by Train in Hyderabad

In a third tragedy on the same day, a 23-year-old woman identified as Anusha and her two-year-old son Tirinath were killed after being struck by a train in Hyderabad. Anusha, originally from a village in Warangal district, had migrated to Hyderabad for work as a labourer and was part of a 15-member crew clearing bushes near the railway track between Badvel and Shivrampalli railway stations.

According to railway police, the child wandered onto the track while playing nearby. Anusha rushed to pull him back, but the track curved at that point, obstructing her view of the approaching train. Both were crushed under the Karnataka Sampark Kranthi Express, which was travelling from Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi to Bengaluru Yeshwantpur.

A Pattern of Migrant Worker Vulnerability

All three incidents on 11 August share a common thread: victims who were migrant labourers or daily-wage workers operating in conditions of heightened risk — overcrowded autorickshaws, high-speed national highways, and active railway tracks. The Zahirabad autorickshaw tragedy alone claimed five lives from a single district in Karnataka, underscoring the precarious transport conditions that seasonal workers routinely face. Telangana has seen recurring road fatalities involving overloaded passenger vehicles on rural routes, and Tuesday's incidents add to that grim record.
