More than 52 lakh farmer families in Gujarat received over ₹1,051 crore under the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on Friday, 30 October 2026, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi released over ₹18,680 crore to more than 9.34 crore farmer families nationwide. The funds were transferred directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism.

National Launch at Bhildi, Banaskantha

Prime Minister Modi was personally present at the national-level 'PM Kisan Utsav Day' programme held at Bhildi in Banaskantha district, Gujarat, where he released the instalment. The event was attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani, Minister of State for Agriculture Ramesh Katara, and other Cabinet members, Members of Parliament, MLAs, and senior officials.

Statewide Celebrations at 2,100-Plus Locations

Parallel programmes were organised at more than 2,100 locations across Gujarat at district, taluka, and village levels. Lakhs of farmers watched live telecasts of the main event in the presence of ministers, MPs, MLAs, district panchayat presidents, and local representatives. District-level events were held in Morbi, Surendranagar, Surat, Kutch, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Junagadh, Panchmahal, Mehsana, Patan, Bharuch, and other districts.

District-Wise Breakdown of Aid

Dahod led among districts with ₹54.84 crore credited to 2,74,201 farmers, followed by Anand where ₹52.43 crore reached more than 2.61 lakh beneficiaries. Mehsana saw ₹50 crore transferred to 2.49 lakh farmers, while Bhavnagar's more than 2.10 lakh beneficiaries received ₹42.08 crore. In Panchmahal, over 2.02 lakh farmers received ₹40.61 crore, and 1.95 lakh farmers in Rajkot received ₹39 crore.

Further, ₹37.70 crore was credited to 1,88,524 farmers in Patan, and 1.70 lakh farmers in Bharuch received ₹34.54 crore. Surendranagar recorded transfers of ₹32.10 crore to more than 1.60 lakh farmers, while Junagadh saw ₹30.82 crore credited to 1.53 lakh beneficiaries. In Kutch, 1.19 lakh farmer families received ₹23.91 crore, and 1.16 lakh farmers in Surat received ₹23.20 crore. In Jamnagar, ₹21.57 crore reached 1.07 lakh farmers. Devbhoomi Dwarka recorded over ₹13 crore for more than 68,000 farmer families, while Botad's 66,063 beneficiaries received ₹13.21 crore. In Sabarkantha, 2.23 lakh farmers benefited from the instalment.

Citizenship Certificates and Farmer Felicitations

Notably, in Morbi, around 25 minority citizens who had migrated from Pakistan were presented with Indian citizenship certificates at a programme held at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Gor Khijadiya, alongside the PM-KISAN event. District-level programmes also included felicitations for progressive farmers and those practising natural farming, distribution of approval letters for agricultural scheme assistance and farm equipment, and exhibition stalls with expert guidance on natural farming, drip irrigation, farm mechanisation, and modern agricultural technology.

Government's Stance on DBT and Farmer Welfare

Speaking at various events, ministers and representatives underscored that the DBT mechanism had 'eliminated the role of middlemen in the transfer of assistance under the PM-KISAN scheme.' They noted that financial support reaches farmers' accounts directly, helping them meet seasonal expenses during the sowing period. This is the 24th consecutive instalment under PM-KISAN since the scheme's launch, reflecting its continued scale as one of India's largest direct farmer benefit programmes. In Surat, Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil presided over the district programme at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Panaas, with events at 72 locations across the district. In Kutch, Minister of State for Labour and Employment Kanti Amrutiya and MP Vinod Chavda led the event at Kotda Ugamna, supported by 75 parallel programmes. All eyes will now be on the 25th instalment and whether the government expands eligibility or revises the per-family annual benefit beyond the current ₹6,000.

Point of View

With Chief Minister Patel and an array of state leaders on stage, underscores the electoral calculus embedded in every instalment cycle. The ₹6,000 annual per-family outlay has remained unchanged since the scheme's 2019 launch, even as input costs for farmers have risen sharply; the scale of the disbursement masks the stagnation in per-beneficiary value. The DBT mechanism does improve targeting, but the more pressing question — whether PM-KISAN supplements or substitutes structural farm income support — receives no answer at these Utsav events. With 9.34 crore families on the rolls nationally, any meaningful revision to the benefit amount would be a far larger fiscal and political signal than another choreographed release.
