Jaipur, Aug 11 (NationPress) A 70-year-old suspect has been taken into custody by the Rajasthan Police after a bomb threat was reported at the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in Jaipur on Monday, an official confirmed.
The official stated that the bomb threat escalated the alertness of security agencies, indicating that the warning was communicated to the police control room promptly. Subsequently, senior officials were notified, leading to the involvement of multiple agencies on-site.
A comprehensive search operation was executed, yet no suspicious items were discovered.
Meanwhile, DCP South Rajarshi Raj mentioned that the threatening call came in around 12:30 pm, with the caller asserting he would detonate a bomb at the CMO. The information was swiftly communicated to relevant officials, prompting the activation of security teams.
However, a cyber team managed to track the caller through his phone number, leading to the arrest of the 70-year-old individual, identified as a drug addict. He is currently being transported to Jaipur for further interrogation.
Earlier on July 26, the CMO had also faced a bomb threat through an email sent to Jaipur airport, warning of potential explosions at both the CMO and the airport. That threat too was revealed to be a hoax following an investigation.
Recently, Jaipur has experienced a surge in bomb threats, all of which were ultimately deemed false alarms after thorough inquiries.
On June 16, The Palace School at Jaleb Chowk received a bomb threat via email. Since the school was closed, the message went unnoticed until the next day, when the administration alerted the police.
On May 30, threats were made against the Mansarovar Metro Station and two courts - the Jaipur Metro Court and a Family Court, with both courts receiving threatening emails. The Family Court underwent a search lasting nearly four hours, while the Jaipur Metro Court was cleared after an hour-long search. Between May 8 and May 13, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium was repeatedly targeted with threats. An email sent on May 13 not only warned of an explosion but also demanded justice for a rape victim.
On May 9, Jaipur Metro authorities received an email threatening to blow up both the metro station and the train, associated with the “success of Operation Sindoor.”
No explosives have been located in any of these instances.
