Shillong, Feb 19 (NationPress) Meghalaya's Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma revealed to the state legislative Assembly that a total of 817 localities and 427 sub-localities have been officially registered under the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA), 2016, with the registration process actively ongoing.
In response to a resolution proposed by the Leader of Opposition, the Chief Minister asserted that the fundamental aim of the Act—monitoring and registering individuals entering the state—will persist with unwavering commitment.
“The second component, which focuses on registering and monitoring individuals coming into the state, is set to continue. I assure the Assembly of this,” Sangma stated.
Highlighting the progress made with the Act, the Chief Minister noted that since his administration took office in 2018, initiatives were launched to operationalize the MRSSA through the establishment of facilitation centers and entry-exit points throughout the state.
