New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has intensified its call for the resignation of Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra, following a court ruling that mandates the filing of an FIR against him regarding the 2020 Delhi riots.

The party's MLAs conducted a protest within the Delhi Assembly, accusing Mishra of inciting violence and questioning his ongoing role in the Cabinet.

With placards in hand and chants echoing, AAP legislators surged into the well of the House, urging Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to act swiftly and dismiss Mishra from his ministerial role.

This uproar led to a tumultuous atmosphere in the Assembly, resulting in Speaker Vijender Gupta suspending seven AAP MLAs -- Kuldeep Kumar, Sanjeev Jha, Mukesh Ahlawat, Surendra Kumar, Jarnail Singh, Aaley Mohammad Iqbal, and Anil Jha -- for their unruly behavior.

AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha commented on the situation, stating: "After five years, the court has mandated that an FIR be filed against Kapil Mishra, confirming his involvement in the riots. Yet, the police have not taken action against him. A person facing such severe allegations has no ethical right to remain a Minister. We firmly believe that no rioter should occupy a ministerial position in Delhi."

MLA Jarnail Singh also criticized Mishra's ongoing presence in the Assembly.

"The court's directive clearly shows that Kapil Mishra was implicated in the riots. If he does not voluntarily resign, the Chief Minister must take charge and remove him," Singh insisted.

AAP leader Atishi targeted both the BJP government and the Delhi Police, questioning the inaction against Mishra.

"The Rouse Avenue Court has mandated an FIR against Kapil Mishra, whose incendiary speeches in 2020 led to the deaths of 53 individuals. The nation witnessed his involvement in the riots. Why has the Delhi Police not detained him? Why hasn’t Chief Minister Rekha Gupta removed him from the Cabinet?" she inquired.
