Mumbai, Feb 13 (NationPress) Maharashtra Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA, Abu Azmi fiercely criticized Minister Nitesh Rane for his call to investigate madrasas throughout the state, claiming he is consistently attempting to defame Muslims. Rane expressed concerns regarding an alleged illegal madrasa in Nandurbar's Akkalkuwa taluka, where a Yemeni national was reportedly plotting terror activities.

He called on the Maharashtra government to scrutinize all madrasas across the state to ensure they are not fostering terrorism, specifically cautioning about associations with extremist factions such as the Taliban.

Responding to Rane's remarks, Azmi stated to IANS, "I believe Nitesh Rane should have a role that solely aims to disturb and malign Muslims. Each day, he devises new tactics to remain in the headlines."

"It's unnecessary to react to every utterance from Nitesh Rane. However, I wish to convey that madrasas impart positive values — they advocate for brotherhood and national love. While an individual may err, a madrasa cannot be wrong," he asserted.

Azmi contended that the existence of undocumented immigrants within a madrasa should not warrant legal action against all madrasas.

"For instance, numerous Indians reside illegally in America, the UK, or Saudi Arabia post their visa expiration. They may work for others, yet no action is taken against their employers. This is merely his petty politics," he commented.

Dismissively addressing Rane's accusations, Azmi proposed the installation of CCTV cameras in madrasas to demonstrate that their focus is education rather than unlawful activities. "People will see that madrasas promote positive teachings," he remarked.

Previously, Rane had informed IANS, "I have petitioned our Chief Minister to conduct a comprehensive investigation into all madrasas in Maharashtra to ascertain if they genuinely prioritize education or if they are engaged in terrorist activities. Concerns arise that they may be endorsing groups like the Taliban. Are they educating students or attempting to create individuals like (Osama) Bin Laden?"

"If such anti-national actions persist in Maharashtra's madrasas, then all of them should be shut down," he insisted.

He also drew attention to recent actions taken by the Maharashtra government in Akkalkuwa taluka, where an illegal madrasa was being operated.

"A Yemeni individual was involved in planning terrorist activities there. The investigation is being conducted by our Maharashtra police," he noted.

In January, Rane had previously stirred controversy by advocating for a ban on burqas during Board examinations, expressing concerns about possible malpractice.

In a letter to School Education Minister Dada Bhuse, Rane contended that permitting girl students to wear burqas inside examination halls could facilitate cheating and pose security threats.
