Hyderabad, Sep 16 (NationPress) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana has made headlines after seizing Rs 2 crore in cash during operations at the residence of an electricity department official on Tuesday.
Investigators from the anti-corruption agency have been actively searching the properties belonging to Ambedkar, the Assistant Divisional Engineer (ADE), and his relatives since early Tuesday.
Ambedkar, who is stationed in the Manikonda area of Hyderabad, is alleged to have accumulated significant wealth that is inconsistent with his known income sources.
A total of fifteen teams from the ACB have been conducting simultaneous searches across various locations in the city.
During the investigation, ACB officials discovered three plots registered under Ambedkar's name, in addition to a building located in Gachibowli.
Authorities have also confiscated gold jewelry during the raids and are currently assessing its value. They are meticulously reviewing documents related to properties owned by Ambedkar and his family members.
This incident marks the second significant case of disproportionate assets uncovered by the ACB within a month.
On August 19, the ACB had revealed assets worth over Rs 5 crore during an operation targeting a Tahsildar.
ACB officials searched seven locations associated with Bandi Nageswara Rao, the Tahsildar of Warangal Fort Mandal in Warangal district.
They uncovered both movable and immovable properties, including a house valued at Rs 1.15 crore, 17.10 acres of agricultural land worth Rs 1.43 crore, 70 tola of gold ornaments, and 1.791 kg of silver, along with various vehicles and household items, totaling approximately Rs 5,02,25,198 based on documented value, according to the ACB.
Earlier, on September 9, a female Town Planning officer in Hyderabad was caught in the act of accepting a bribe of Rs 4 lakh to expedite an official request.
Maniharika, who works in the Narsingi municipal office, was apprehended while taking a bribe she had solicited of Rs 10 lakh from a complainant named Vinod in exchange for clearing his application under the Land Regularisation Scheme (LRS).
Vinod reported the incident to the ACB, which subsequently set a trap and caught the officer red-handed.
