Mumbai, Jan 7 (NationPress) The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming 2026 Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections, presenting an ambitious plan to elevate Mumbai into a "world-class, inclusive, and glorious city".

Under the guidance of NCP National President and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the party is dedicated to focusing on social justice, development, and transparency, while honoring the progressive ideals of Shahu-Phule-Ambedkar.

The manifesto was introduced by state NCP leader Sunil Tatkare, along with party’s BMC poll coordination chief Nawab Malik and city unit working president Siddharth Kamble, among others.

The NCP has committed to a major infrastructure revitalization, including the upgrading of roads, bridges, and flyovers, with an objective to build 500 km of new roadways in the next five years.

Key economic areas such as BKC, Worli, and the eastern suburbs will see further development to establish new job opportunities.

The party also intends to implement an AI-driven 'Smart Traffic Signal' system and enhance the CCTV and Wi-Fi networks as part of the Smart City initiative.

Residents of older chawls and slums will receive a promise of 24/7 clean and free water supply.

A new initiative, 'Jal Samrudh Nagar Abhiyan', will be launched to enhance water conservation and distribution, with a goal of achieving 100 percent Smart Water Meters by 2030.

To tackle waste management, the NCP proposes a 'Zero Waste' strategy, a 'Waste Credit Certificate System' to incentivize waste segregation, and a dedicated 'River Rejuvenation' campaign to clean Mumbai’s waterways and mitigate flooding.

Significant healthcare reforms include transforming municipal hospitals into 24/7 Arogya Kalyan Kendras (UHWC) equipped with teleconsultation services, alongside providing health cards to all municipal school students.

In terms of education, the party aims to modernize schools with digital classrooms and AI-based technologies, while establishing free study rooms and career guidance centers in every ward.

The party has also promised to construct schools in every ward specifically for students with hearing and speech impairments.

A key feature of the manifesto is the waiver of property tax for homes up to 700 square feet. Additionally, the party plans to build 100,000 new affordable homes and expedite the implementation of Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) schemes for slum residents to gain basic amenities and ownership.

To reduce pollution, the NCP aims to transform Mumbai into a greener city by planting 1 million trees and encouraging the use of electric buses and CNG vehicles. In transportation, the party will collaborate with the central government to expand both the Metro and local train systems, promising full fare concessions for persons with disabilities (Divyang) on the Mumbai Metro.

The manifesto also includes a 'Safe Mumbai' initiative aimed at enhancing safety for women, featuring increased police patrols, dedicated helplines, and the construction of hostels for working women.

To support the youth, the party plans to establish skill development centers in every ward and organize municipal-level job fairs and apprenticeship programs. In conclusion, the NCP called on Mumbaikars to vote for the 'Clock' symbol, portraying it as a vote for a "bright future" and a pledge to sustain the city’s social and cultural harmony.
