New Delhi, Jan 9 (NationPress) The founders of Indian Artificial Intelligence (AI) startups expressed that their discussion with Prime Minister Narendra Modi motivated them to develop AI solutions capable of significantly impacting people's lives.
Dr. Siddharth Panwar, CEO and co-founder of NeuroDx, mentioned that the Prime Minister’s insights were pivotal in reshaping their understanding of AI’s potential for aiding individuals.
"He encouraged us to go beyond merely imitating the approaches of Western nations and to innovate AI that can create a meaningful difference in the lives of everyday citizens in India," he stated.
Nikhil Malhotra, Chief Innovation Officer of Tech Mahindra, reflected on the enriching experience of engaging with PM Modi.
"PM Modi recognizes the significance of AI integration in India and stressed the importance of developing AI solutions in an ethical and responsible manner—approaches that are yet to be explored," Malhotra pointed out.
During a meeting on Thursday, PM Modi urged startups to harness AI for the benefit of society. Leading a roundtable with Indian AI startups at his residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, the Prime Minister encouraged them to make AI solutions affordable, inclusive, and transparent.
Ayush Gupta, CEO of Genloop, shared that discussions revolved around the desired characteristics of India's AI models. PM Modi unequivocally stated that the nation's AI should be "trustworthy and adhere to ethical standards."
"For India, AI signifies ‘Atmanirbhar Intelligence’ (self-reliant intelligence) and will play a crucial role in a prosperous India in the near future," Gupta asserted.
Srikanth Velamakanni, co-founder of Fractal, noted that PM Modi envisions India as a global leader in AI.
"To achieve this, we must develop AI models that are centered around India and make these accessible to every citizen in their native language," Velamakanni emphasized.
This meeting occurred in anticipation of the ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’, set to take place in India next month.
During this roundtable, chaired by PM Modi, representatives from 12 AI startups that qualified for the 'AI for All: Global Impact Challenge' showcased their ideas and innovations. A statement from the Prime Minister's Office indicated that these startups are engaged in various fields, including healthcare, multilingual large language models, materials research, data analytics, and engineering simulation.
