New Delhi, Jan 8 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called upon startups to harness Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the betterment of society.
Leading a roundtable discussion with Indian AI startups at his residence located at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of making AI affordable, inclusive, and transparent.
Describing his interaction with the young innovators as “memorable and insightful,” he encouraged them to utilize AI for social enhancement. PM Modi praised the AI-driven startups for their contributions across various sectors, including e-commerce, material research, and healthcare.
“I had an engaging discussion on AI with young minds from the Indian startup ecosystem. This interaction was memorable and enlightening, showcasing how India is evolving in the global AI landscape,” shared PM Modi on social media platform X.
“It is admirable how these startups are tackling a wide range of fields such as e-commerce, marketing, engineering simulations, material research, healthcare, and medical research. We discussed strategies for leveraging AI to promote societal welfare,” he further added.
The Prime Minister also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting all those innovating in AI, aiming to strengthen the ethos of ‘Made in India, Made for the World.’ He stressed the need for AI to be affordable, inclusive, and transparent.
Additionally, he suggested that Indian AI models should be unique and should foster local content and regional languages.
PM Modi announced that India will host the India AI Impact Summit 2026 next month, positioning the country as a key player in the technology sector.
A total of twelve Indian AI startups, selected for the AI for ALL: Global Impact Challenge as part of the upcoming summit, participated in the roundtable, presenting their innovative ideas.
The meeting included CEOs and representatives from notable Indian AI startups like Avataar, BharatGen, Fractal, Gan, Genloop, Gnani, Intellihealth, Sarvam, Shodh AI, Soket AI, Tech Mahindra, and Zenteiq. Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada were also present during this significant discussion.
