New Delhi, March 16 (NationPress) In a heartfelt address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that irrespective of the advancements made in artificial intelligence (AI) globally, it will remain incomplete without India's contribution.

During an extensive three-hour dialogue with American AI specialist and podcaster Lex Fridman, the Prime Minister stated he was making this declaration with a sense of responsibility.

"What I am about to express might seem assertive and could even disturb some, but since you’ve posed the question, I’ll share my thoughts candidly. No matter what the world accomplishes in AI, it will remain incomplete without India. I am making this declaration very responsibly," said PM Modi.

"Consider this: you’ve listened to my address during the AI Summit in Paris about global cooperation. What’s your opinion? Can anyone create AI entirely independently? What do you think?" he inquired of the host.

PM Modi emphasized that the development of AI is inherently collaborative.

"Every participant offers support through shared experiences and learning. India is not merely generating theoretical AI models; it is actively engaging in and implementing AI applications for specific use cases to guarantee that GPU access is available to all segments of society," the Prime Minister explained.

India has already established a distinctive marketplace-based AI model to ensure broad accessibility. A significant shift in mindset is underway in India, despite historical influences, traditional governmental procedures, or insufficient support infrastructure that previously made it appear as though it lagged behind others.

The government has recently introduced several crucial initiatives under the IndiaAI Mission, representing a significant milestone in India's quest to develop responsible and ethical technology.

These initiatives encompass AIKosha: IndiaAI Datasets Platform, the AI Compute Portal, the AI Competency Framework for Public Sector Officials, iGOT-AI Mission Karmayogi, the IndiaAI Startups Global Acceleration Program with Station F, the IndiaAI Application Development Initiative, and IndiaAI FutureSkills, all aimed at enhancing AI-driven research, innovation, and skill development.

The AI Compute Portal will initially offer access to 10,000 GPUs, with an additional 8,693 GPUs to be added, providing AI compute services at a significantly subsidized rate to assist startups, researchers, and enterprises.

PM Modi also touched upon the 5G rollout during the Fridman show.

"Initially, the world thought we were lagging behind, but once we initiated, we became the fastest nation worldwide to deploy comprehensive 5G networks. Recently, an executive from an American company shared his experiences with me regarding this fact. He mentioned that if I were to place an advertisement in the US for engineers, I would only secure enough applicants to fill a single room at most. However, if I did the same in India, even a football field wouldn’t suffice to accommodate them," PM Modi stated.

This highlights India's access to an extraordinarily vast talent pool, which he described as “our greatest strength”.

"Ultimately, artificial intelligence is fundamentally powered, shaped, and guided by human intelligence. Without authentic human intelligence, AI cannot flourish or evolve sustainably, and that true intelligence is abundantly present in India’s youth and talent pool, which I believe is our greatest asset," PM Modi shared with Fridman.
