Akshay Sachdeva Takes Helm as Sikkim's New DGP

Gangtok, Jan 4 (NationPress) Senior IPS officer Akshay Sachdeva has been appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP) for Sikkim, as confirmed by officials.
The IPS officer from the 1991 batch previously held the position of Special DGP for Law and Order and will now take over from the outgoing DGP A.K. Singh.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang congratulated Shri Akshay Sachdeva on his promotion via social media, stating, "Heartiest congratulations to Shri Akshay Sachdeva, IPS, on his promotion as the Director General of Police, Sikkim". He further expressed confidence in Sachdeva's ability to lead the state towards greater progress and excellence.
Additionally, the Chief Minister extended his gratitude to the outgoing DGP, Shri A.K. Singh, for his remarkable and dedicated service, emphasizing that Singh's contributions to Sikkim will be cherished. "I wish him a happy, healthy, and fulfilling retired life", the CM added.
On the same day, Chief Minister Tamang visited the residence of former Minister Thutop Bhutia in Tashiding (Lasso) to pay his final respects. He expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family and friends, offering prayers for their comfort during this challenging time.
The Chief Minister also prayed for solace and strength for all affected by this tragic loss and wished for the departed soul to attain eternal peace. Bhutia passed away on Friday.
