Gandhinagar, Jan 27 (NationPress) BJP MLA Alpesh Thakor stated that he would permanently withdraw from politics if he ever feels he is unable to serve his community. This statement was a significant highlight of the Thakor community’s ‘Abhyuday Mahasammelan’ held at Ramkatha Ground in Gandhinagar on Tuesday.
In front of thousands of attendees gathered around 3 am, Thakor emphasized that his political endeavors are deeply intertwined with social responsibility.
“For me, society outweighs any political position. If I ever conclude that I am unable to contribute positively to my society, I will exit politics permanently,” he asserted, clarifying that the gathering was not a demonstration of strength but rather a testament to the Thakor community’s unwavering unity.
In response to questions regarding the timing of the event, he noted that the early hour represented a state of vigilance. “To ensure the future of our society, we must remain alert,” he stated.
The Mahasammelan, organized by Thakor as the president of the Gujarat Kshatriya Thakor Sena, centered on themes of education, de-addiction, employment, and social reform.
Thousands arrived even before midnight, with participation noted from over 7,000 villages statewide.
Reflecting on the de-addiction movement initiated in 2016, Thakor shared that the concept was initially ridiculed but eventually gained traction. “When we first advocated for de-addiction, many laughed. Now, the youth are spreading this message across every household, and 90 to 95 percent of villages are now addiction-free,” he claimed.
He mentioned that had such initiatives started earlier, the community’s social and economic status would have been more robust.
Thakor also revealed plans for a major educational project with the groundbreaking for ‘Saraswati Dham’, a proposed Rs 100-crore campus near Adalaj.
Expressing gratitude to the state government for providing land for the project, he noted that the campus would support over 2,000 students, featuring facilities for coaching competitive exams, a library, and guidance for overseas education.
“Land should not be reserved for lavish weddings. We need to construct institutions for our children’s future,” he remarked, mentioning plans for eight additional buildings in the forthcoming years.
Former Gujarat Congress President Jagdish Thakor urged families to minimize excessive spending on social events and redirect savings towards education. “The money saved by reducing such practices should be allocated for higher education and securing a bright future for our children,” he stated.
Congress MP Geniben Thakor called on the community to tackle issues like superstition, malnutrition, and educational deficits, asserting, “Communities that concern themselves with their future progress; time does not halt for anyone. Families should aspire beyond low-level occupations and prepare their children for careers in IAS and IPS.”
Leaders across political spectrums, including MPs, MLAs, and ministers, attended the convention, which concluded with a collective commitment to prioritize education, social unity, and long-term community advancement.
