Pune, July 4 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on a brief visit to Pune, Maharashtra, will engage in several significant events today. This includes the unveiling of a statue dedicated to Shreemant Thorle Bajirao Peshwa at the National Defence Academy (NDA), located in Khadakwasla, along with inaugurating a new sports facility.
The impressive statue stands at 13.5 feet tall and weighs 4,000 kg, having been gifted to the NDA by the Shrimath Thorle Bajirao Peshwa Pratishthan. Attendees at this momentous occasion will include Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol.
Arriving on Thursday evening, HM Shah will also interact with the NDA trainees. Following this, he will inaugurate the Jairaj Sports and Convention Centre in Kondhwa and visit the Balasaheb Deora Hospital at Khadi Machine Chowk. He will then lay the foundation stone for a new Health City at Wadachiwadi before heading to his next destination.
In anticipation of HM Shah’s visit, local authorities have implemented traffic regulations. From noon to 5 p.m. on July 4, all heavy and slow-moving vehicles will be restricted from traveling on the route between Mantarwadi Phata to Khadi Machine Chowk and Katraj Chowk. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav has also announced a shift from one-way to two-way traffic on various routes.
This marks HM Shah’s fifth visit to Maharashtra recently, ahead of the upcoming local and civic body elections expected in October-November. This visit is particularly significant as it follows the election of the new chief of the Maharashtra BJP, Ravindra Chavan, on July 1.
Previously, HM Shah urged party members to prepare for the forthcoming elections to ensure a continued victory for the BJP-led MahaYuti in the local and civic body elections.
Earlier visits included a trip to Pune on February 22, a tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Raigad Fort on April 12, and various events in Nagpur, Nanded, and Mumbai on May 26 and 27, culminating in the inauguration of the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture office in Mumbai on June 20.
