Guwahati, Jan 22 (NationPress) The Amrit Bharat Express trains, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 17, have officially started their regular operations under the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). This initiative represents a significant enhancement to long-distance rail connectivity in the region, providing travelers with both affordable and modern travel options.
NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Kapinjal Kishore Sharma announced that the Dibrugarh-Gomti Nagar–Dibrugarh Amrit Bharat Express will run weekly. This train is set to begin its journey from Dibrugarh on January 30, departing every Friday, while its return journey from Gomti Nagar will commence on February 1, leaving every Sunday.
All Amrit Bharat Express trains will utilize 22-coach modern Amrit Bharat rakes, designed to enhance passenger amenities while keeping fares reasonable. The regular operation of these trains by the Northeast Frontier Railway showcases a commitment to inclusive development, improved connectivity, and the modernization of the railway network, according to Sharma.
The CPRO also mentioned that the train will stop at various stations including Moranhat, Simaluguri, Mariani, Furkating, Dimapur, Diphu, Lumding, Guwahati, Rangiya, New Bongaigaon, New Alipurduar, New Jalpaiguri, Katihar, Barauni, Gorakhpur, AyodhyaDham Junction, Barabanki, among others.
Additionally, the SMVT Bengaluru–Alipurduar–SMVT Bengaluru Amrit Bharat Express will also run weekly, originating from SMVT Bengaluru on January 24, departing every Saturday, with its return journey from Alipurduar starting on January 26, leaving every Monday. This train will stop at Katpadi, Renigunta, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Kharagpur, Barddhaman, Malda Town, New Jalpaiguri, etc.
Furthermore, the Nagercoil-New Jalpaiguri-Nagercoil Amrit Bharat Express will also operate weekly, starting its journey from Nagercoil on January 25 and returning from New Jalpaiguri on January 28. The route includes stops at Madurai, Pollachi, Erode, Katpadi, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Kharagpur, Malda Town, Kishanganj, etc.
The Tiruchchirappalli–New Jalpaiguri-Tiruchchirappalli Amrit Bharat Express will also start weekly services, departing from Tiruchchirappalli on January 28 and returning from New Jalpaiguri on January 30. This train will have stops at Tambaram, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Cuttack, Kharagpur, Malda Town, Barsoi, Kishanganj, etc.
Lastly, the Kamakhya-Rohtak-Kamakhya Amrit Bharat Express will commence its journey weekly from Kamakhya on January 30 and return from Rohtak on February 1. The train will stop at Rangiya, New Bongaigaon, New Jalpaiguri, Kishanganj, Katihar, Khagaria, Barauni, Sonpur, Aunrihar, Prayagraj, Delhi, etc.
