Amaravati, June 3 (NationPress) The government of Andhra Pradesh is gearing up to establish the Andhra Pradesh Logistics Corporation shortly, aiming to enhance infrastructure development across roads, ports, airports, and fishing harbours.
The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, directed officials on Tuesday to ensure the completion of Phase-1 works for Machilipatnam, Ramayapatnam, and Mulapeta ports, as well as the Kakinada Gateway Port, by December of the following year. He also called for the expedited completion of Phase-1 construction for Juvvaladinne, Nizampatnam, Machilipatnam, and Uppada fishing harbours within the same timeframe.
During a review meeting at his camp office in Undavalli, he highlighted that ports and fishing harbours represent significant economic assets for Andhra Pradesh. He underscored the importance of fast-tracking these projects and making them operational as soon as possible. The discussions also covered port operations and maintenance.
The Chief Minister pointed out that ports, airports, and harbours will be pivotal for driving the state’s economic growth. He urged for the conversion of these facilities into robust economic assets.
He also encouraged officials to investigate the potential for upgrading fishing harbours to minor ports without disrupting local fishing communities, thus enhancing regional incomes.
The Chief Minister called for the prompt commencement of Phase-1 works for new airports in Kuppam, Dagadarthi, Amaravati, and Srikakulam (Palasa). He emphasized the objective of developing at least 20 ports and 14 airports throughout the state.
Furthermore, he instructed for the expansion of state roads based on traffic requirements, integrating them with national highways via the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
He also requested officials to devise a plan for establishing heliports in agency areas to enhance tourism in tribal regions.
Officials reported to the Chief Minister that 43.25% of the works at Machilipatnam Port have been finished, with full completion anticipated by November next year. Phase 1 of Ramayapatnam Port is at 63.89%, Mulapeta Port at 46.59%, and Kakinada Gateway Port at 29.92%.
Updates on the construction of fishing harbours revealed that Juvvaladinne is nearly done with 97.72% of works completed, Nizampatnam at 81.17%, Machilipatnam at 69.20%, and Uppada at 78.94%.
